"As my train rumbled smoothly down the tracks, I found myself wondering what this new destination would unveil. *Papikondalu* is such a strange, unique name, and I waited with eager anticipation. Ever since I retired from my professional career, I have made it my personal mission to travel to remote corners and write about them. It brings immense personal satisfaction—and knowing you are reading this makes me want to explore further and share it all with you.
So, the Papi Hills are where I headed. My wife, Monica, kindly handled my booking arrangements while she was away on an all-women adventure excursion elsewhere. I love embracing absolute solitude sometimes. Stepping down onto the bustling platforms of the Rajahmundry railway station, I looked around this majestic district of the Godavari.
From Rajahmundry, we launched onto the water. Our compact motorboat carried exactly five passengers, while heavy steam launches passed us by carrying 50 to 60 tourists. The 8-hour river journey proved beautifully adventurous; the cool, pristine waters would move with absolute calmness one minute, and tilt our boat dynamically against the current the next! The shifting river sands drifted past, and a cool breeze blew constantly across my face. The river was incredibly full, which only added to the thrill of the voyage. Thankfully, our local boatmen were deeply skilled and entirely unfazed by the swirling eddies.

Coincidentally, all five men aboard our boat shared the exact same taste for raw adventure tourism. We collectively decided to camp directly on the sandy riverbank overnight! We pitched our tents, prepped our fishing rods, and unpacked our food supplies. Under a completely pleasant, clear night sky, the five of us bonded incredibly well—our impromptu crew consisted of a practicing Doctor, a Graphologist, a Naturalist, a Chartered Accountant, and me, a simple retired wanderer.
The next morning, we woke early and tackled a vigorous trek straight up the steep hill face. The climb left us thoroughly tired, but reaching the top rewards you with an unmatched perspective of the world. We descended back to camp for a classic breakfast of hot tea, biscuits, and freshly boiled eggs provided by our incredible boatman, entirely satisfied with the raw adventure we set out to find."
